Birthday Recap

As I mentioned yesterday, unlike last year, this year's birthday afforded me the opportunity to spend a moderate amount of my special day "whooping it up" as should be expected.  Here's a recap of my day.

First, I had to start off with a decidedly unhealthy breakfast--a chocolate chocolate chip muffin--courtesy of Servatii's Bakery:
Then, it was off to work. :-(  After work, my mom and dad took me to get my NEW RUNNING SHOES at The Running Spot, where I got fitted for a new pair.  I've been wearing the same style of Adidas Supernova's for about two years now, but I've been feeling like they just aren't doing it for me anymore.  So with some help from the shoe guy, I switched to these Brooks Adrenaline's:

We shall see how they work for me.  The nice thing about buying running shoes at a real running store instead of buying them online is that if they don't end up working for you after, say, a 20 mile run, you can take them back, no questions asked.  Expect a full report after I break them in.  The shoe guy at The Running Spot also suggested I try some inserts, since I've been experiencing some pain in the balls of my feet after long runs.  I got these inserts:

The podiatrists pictured on the cover look like the type of people who wouldn't steer you wrong, so I hope that turns out to be the case.  I'll make sure to file a full report on my first set of inserts in a few weeks as well.

With a new pair of shoes, a set of inserts, two pair of socks, and a swipe of my dad's credit card, we were off to go eat dinner.  Love, love, love me some Brio:

After getting filled up on Brio's amazing bruschetta, we all ended up having to take half of our entrees home.  My parents dropped me off and I headed up to The Pub to meet some friends for drinks:

Great friends, wonderful conversation, lots of laughs, and superb wine:

Then, a quick snack before bed:

What more could a girl ask for on her birthday?

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I'm also glad to hear that you are able to have indulgences now and then and still keep the weight off. I believe that life is to be lived, and finding a happy medium will be a good thing. But for now, my treats will have to be fewe and far between.
